I was at a gun show in NH a couple of years ago and saw a Mini-14 for $600! It was one of shipment of 100 (if memory serves) that got damaged and not sent overseas. The normal Mini-14 is in cal. .223. This particular one was in .222 for foreign sales in a non-military caliber.

Ralph;
Don't be deceived. The Mini-14 was available for a while in .222. It didn't sell well and was finally dropped from Ruger's line. This gun was NOT a special export version.

The Ruger Mini-14 was a regular production item in .222 caliber during the 1980s. It has no special value over any other standard Mini-14 UNLESS it is clearly marked as some sort of commemmorative gun.
The gun in .222 was discontinued because Ruger couldn't sell enough of them to justify the gun's continued existence.
