Just purchased a used Win 88 in .308 cal. I do mostly Moose and White tail hunting. Was looking at Winchester's website and noticed the 150gr Supreme Partion Gold round. I favour the Federal Nosler Partion round and was wondering if I could use Winchester's Partion Gold as a dual purpose round for both Moose and White tails. Anyone out there use the round, comments.

they als oshow a 150gr Supreme Fail Safe that is listed as for heavy game is htis a good round.

Your address suggests you're here in my neck of the woods, Clayton. And that means some reasonably big moose, if you're hunting locally. A 150 is considered, no matter what it's made of, a bit small for moose. In a .308, the suggestion would be a 180.

That said, I'm sure anything of decent make would do the job nicely. Heck, I took my moose (1100 lb bull) in Val d'Or (Quebec) with a .303 shooting 180gr Winchester powerpoints.

I have heard good things about them locally, yes, for deer. No idea about for moose, though. But I've often thought that moose go down easier than deer do.

I really like the Fail Safe bullet for large game. In my gun they are incredibly accurate (consistently touching holes at 200yds.) I have been a little disappointed in the velocity but the accuracy makes up for it. They advertise the round I am using as 3120fps with 160gr and 24inch barrel. Chronographed, I am showing 2850fps from a 26' barrel. They claim it is their 'controlled' test conditions.

Like I said, it is accurate and puts a very nice hole in deer and elk.
