Hi I am rather new to Oregon and I hunt the Willamette national forest off jasper Road...by Lookout Point resivior. I am wondering who can tell me what game there is to hunt there besides deer and elk and where it is located in that area...I do have a Lane County roads map that lists all the trails and backroads for the forests so i would be able to understand a bit of Forest Serivice road jargon.

I hope to hunt turkey, lion.deer, elk, bear, grouse, quial, dove, and anything else that might be in that area.

There are grouse in many areas of the Cascades. I don't find them to be much sport unless you hunt them by throwing rocks. It's a wonder how a species that dumb could survive.

For quail, look for areas that have been used for livestock pasture. Quail are dependent on animal usage that puts a lot of bugs at ground level. Given piles of cow flop they will reproduce like crazy.

Dove of course cluster around mineral springs.

Before the snow knocks them out of the mountains there are some nice numbers of waterfowl at some of the mountain lakes. The ones you have to hike in to are particularly nice if you have a retriver or a lightweight raft or canoe.

I don't know much about lion and bear except that the numbers are up.

Don't forget your fishin' pole for those afternoons when walking seems like too much work.
