I live in Southern Illinois. I love to bowhunt and shotgun hunt. I am at a loss right now on what my hunting strategy should be. I have hunted several times since the last shotgun season, and have yet to see a deer. I have hunted the edge of fields, in the woods and near bedding areas. Any

I also reside in Southern Illinois, maybe I can offer some insight. If your not seeing deer where you're hunting, you need to move. There maybe a deer or two left in your hunting area leaving sign, but the majority have probably moved to another area. I have been watching deer that were previously in my hunting area. They have moved about 3/4 miles away. There is still a couple of does and a small buck using my hunting area, but the really good ones have moved off to another property. Also, under normal conditions, the deer would be utilizing the cut corn fields but the mild conditions still have them browsing and feeding on the grasses such as wheat, clover etc. The warm weather suggests the deer are laying up and not really moving very much. I see them after dark alot and seldom during daylight. You probably need to do some scouting in areas you haven't been hunting.
