This is our first deer hunt. Ok the area has been scouted in the spring. we planted four acres of food plots. The tree stand (3'x4'with sides and a top, seats, a tree mansion it sits 15' off the ground with the seats the sighting height is about 18' has been put up. The rifles have been sighted in.

Now the important part- what goes up in the stand with you? Besides- Common sense- rifle, ammo, (one shell chamber and two others?) binoculors. extra clothes to modify if the weather changes, calls, Gps or compass, a book, Cell phone in case of emergency, winde checker, camera, ? . Do you take coffee ( Someone told me coffee has too strong of smell in the woods) or water if you do, do you take a pee bottle?

When bowhunting, I bring open eye screw hooks. Once in the stand, I take my bow quiver off the bow and hook it to one of the hooks that I screw into the tree. I carry all the items that I need for the day in a small back pack. Lunch, snacks, thermos of hot plain tea. The back pack is hung on a second hook and is unzipped. during the day I can reach in and get my hand warrmers, snacks and sip some hot tea as necessary. The doses of hot caffeinated liquid does wonders when your core temp starts to fall and you start to daydream. I carry a plastic qt bottle for urination, but after the recent postings that deer have been atracted to human urine, I am thinking of discontinuing the practice.

I was recently explaining to my wife this whole procedure about where the rattling antlers and calls were hung. I told her that I really needed a bow holder so when I napped I didn't drop it. She just laughed wondering when I was going to install cup holders on my climbing stand.

I told her I was thinking about it.
