Thanks for any help. Gregg

My advice is 'don't do it!' Too many people are injured or die on these homemade contraptions!

Greg, since safety should be the first concern of every hunter, I will tell you that I hunted out of homemade treestands for years, and although I was proud of the fact that I'd made my own, they were usually extremely uncomfortable, heavy to carry in and out of the woods, and usually Mr. Murphy, from Murphy's Law fame, always seemed to make climbing with the stand, an adventure. It's not worth it. You would be much better off purchasing a treestand from a manufacturer after trying to climb with it. When all is said and done, the purchased model that you tried out first, will almost always be much more stable, lighter, and easier to climb with, than a homemade variety. Since there is a good amount of ime prior to deer/ archery season, if you begin saving now, while going out and looking at the construction of various stands

It all depends on the builder. I've built several for myself with no problems. In fact most of the ones I've built are sturdier than most of my bought ones. The thing is I'm a qualified welder and fabricator. I make sure I build them sturdy and put good welds on my projects. The home built ones that people most often get hurt from are wooden structures, usually nailed together and nailed to trees. I would agree that unless you are a competent welder and fabricator don't mess with trying to build your own. As for plans, I just look at the different models already available and pick up my plans from them.

I must agree with Kevin. Unless you, or your buddy, is a competent welder buy your stand. Most persons will not sell you a homemade stand for the liability laws. Wood ones are cheap to make but don't last more than two or three years in good enough shape to stand in.

I just bought myself a Browning Euro Boss. Here is my opinion: The rifle is perfect, except the magazine. It is too short - the bullets with normal length do not fit in! 1 is ok, when load it with 2, it may not loosen the cartridges at all! 3 and 4 are not worth mentioning, the magazine fits 4. It seems when hunting, I have to start choosing cartridges with shorter bullets? Has anyone experienced such kind a problem and can it be removed easily?

Thanks,
