Anyone have source for wheelchair hunting stands? I have found some huge ones with a huge price tag (4300!)

I'm sure if you talked with a good wielder/ fabrocator he could make you one for about half of that.

You must have a death wish. I think I would use a little common sense and stay on the ground.

LOL Why a death wish? Just want to enjoy the view! No, really I think it is viable and is perfectly logical.

I would suggest you do a 'google' for handicapped hunter organizations. I am ashamed to say I cannot recall at this moment their name, but there is a group of such in Ga that has existed for many years now. They have worked long and hard to perfect the ways and means to get themselves into the woods and to successfully hunt. I'm sure such an organization would be of more help than what you're getting here.

Thanks for jogging my memory. Here in Michigan there was a group called 'Outdoors Forever' and it was the type of organization you are talking about. The best way to find out if they are still around is to contact the Michigan United Conservation Clubs at their main office in Lansing. Check with them to see if the Michigan group is still around.

Have you considered just leaving the chair on the ground with a camo tarp over it?

However it might be cheaper to see if there are any wheelchair hunting and fishing areas near you and use their gear.

I'm wondering whether it would it be feasible (while being safe, obviously) to consider leaving the wheelchair on the ground, covered, and having some sort of pulley system built that would be used lift you on up to treestand height. Using a wood or aluminum seat seems to me would be a much lighter apparatus, which you could then tie off when at height. I'm envisioning something like that used by big city window washers, if you've seen them...
Just a thought.

A buddy of mine is paralyzed from the waist down due to a fall from a tree stand; he now does his deer hunting with a pistol from his specially-equipped four-wheel ATV.
