Whats the best load for a 100 yard shot? I have used 90 to 100 grains of pyrodex, with a 240 grain Sabot and cannot shoot a tight group for the life of me! When I used Pyrodex Pellets it was worse. Thanks for any input.........

It is definitely worth trying a bunch of different sabots. I don't know why they are different, but with 100 grains of pyrodex (powder or pellets did not seem to make a difference) my Black Diamond liked the 240 gr Barnes ML sabot and the Thompson Center Mag-pro sabot. It didn't like the Thompson Center PTX or any of the PowerBelt bullets. Also try the Thompson Center maxi-ball- it has been accurate in several of my muzzleloaders.

If you can't get a 1-2 inch group at 100 yards, call the technical people at Thompson Center. I have spoken to them several times. They live and breathe this stuff, and are always willing to give you helpful advice.

Good luck,

I use 100 grains of pyrodex with either 350 grain Hornady FPB's or 245 grain Buffalo Bullet Ball-et with good results.
