Be VERY careful not to leave it around in that combination if there are kids around. Years ago we visited my sisters god parents. The husband being a beagler used to have a squirt gun full of ammonia to discourage neighborhood pets when the females came in season. My sister was about 7 at the time and found the yellow plastic gun sitting on a shelf in the garage adjacent to the kennel. Being a kid and it being hot out she fired the gun at something then squirted it into her mouth to refersh herself. She got VERY sick vomiting and to this day I don't know the antidote in such a situation but I would assume the worst such as an adverse reaction and possibly death. BE CAREFUL!!

Actually, it is never a good idea to leave any chemicals around young kids, so I agree with you, but ammonia in dilution probably won't kill or seriously injure. It is a base and when it meets the acid of the stomach I imagine it will result in the 'belch heard round the world!' I doubt it caustic enough to be caustic on the skin going down either to ulcerate it since I have put my hands in much stronger versions of ammonia than sold for household use years ago when I used a machine using ammonia to make blue prints. (My god, that machine took your breath away.) On the other hand, I can imagine a little girl (or me today) barfing after drinking some. Very irritating! Also, we used to use ammonia in a squirt gun to break dogs from chasing cars. A kid in the back seat would squirt the gun into the dog's face when he came after the car. Pure ammonia up a dog's nose takes away their joy in the chase! Add tobasco sauce if the first dose doesn't work. Hard to get the dog to even ride in a car after that, but no lasting harm to the dogs.
