Hello all.

Is there a level after which small game becomes too small for bowhunting? I mean hunting for squirrels with a less powerful recurve seems sort of excessive, but pheasant seems to be fine.

I am asking because the popularized opinion is that you only bow hunt the bear, the deer and the turkey, but there is never a mention of anything else that a bow might be useful for.

Thanks,

Small game is lots of fun with a bow. I have taken blue grouse (off a limb) with a bow, lots of rabbits, a couple squirrles, and one skunk. I know a couple people who have gone pheasant hunting with a bow. I feel a bow can cleanly take any animal you might come across and shooting/hunting small game gives you some good practice for when that buck or bull of a lifetime walks out.
