Are there any alternatives to Scent Lok clothing that are less expensive, but still hide your scent? I'm just getting started this year for some bow hunting and I'm trying to keep an eye on how much money I spend.

Thanks for any advice.

People have been successfully bowhunting for centuries without wearing Scent Lok clothing!

Anyone that thinks scent can be locked, contained, erased, removed or eliminated has been scammed. IF THE WIND IS NOT IN YOUR FACE, YOU ARE SCENTED!

A local agent was scrubbed clean, washed with hydrogen peroxide, inserted into a new tyvec chemical suit including booties. He was dropped off a state highway, walked a half a mile and dug into snow. Blood hounds walking the highway hit on the scent and pulled their handlers straight to the

Curtis,

A couple of years ago, I bought from The Sportsman's Guide, a British Chemical Warfare suit. This was a camo shell with an activated charcoal liner. This worked great as a scent lock suit. I shot a large 8 point buck while wearing this suit. The buck came in from directly downwind and I nailed him with my bow at less than 15 yards.

You might want to try some military surplus outlets for something like this. I paid only $14.95 each for two suits!

I am there to enjoy nature, not float around in a bag of sweat.

***Very true Frank, and people successfully hunted with hand knapped flint broadheads and hand-made bows for centuries as well. Does that mean I should get rid of my compound bow and Muzzy broadheads? Is there something wrong with utilizing current technology or advancements in hunting gear and apparel?

The chemical suit that I wear is a cotton, camo shell with a lining of activated charcoal impregnated cloth. It's no more uncomfortable to wear than any other set of lightly insulated hunting clothing. I haven't worn Scent Lok clothing yet, but several of my friends do and they find it quite comfortable to wear as well.

I too enjoy nature, and while I still 'hunt the wind', I enjoy the fact that an errant gust of wind isn't as likely to bust my hunt while wearing scent minimizing clothing.

Reminds me of some 'Three Things' lists:

The 3 factors to consider in real estate:

1. Location, 2. Location, and 3. Location.

Three things you need to get elected to public office:

1. Name Recognition, 2. Name Recognition, and 3. Name Recognition.

Likewise, the three most important considerations for successful bowhunting are:

1. Wind Direction, 2. Wind Direction, and 3. Wind Direction.
