Synthetic stocks are very nice if you hunt mountainous territories. They are not terribly pretty, but they are certainly light, and don't show dings. We have no idea how they will stand up over time. I have linseed oil finished wood stocks that are still beautiful after a century of use. I am not sure that synthetic stocks will last that long, but I am also not sure if I should care.
The only stainless gun I own is a revolver that I carry as a sidearm while mushroom hunting. It often spends long, rainy days in the field, getting bits of dirt and acidic leaves sprinkled over it. The stainless part is very nice. It lets me clean the mushrooms before I clean the gun.
No, I don't shoot mushrooms.

I sometimes find crippled deer that have crawled into the brush and were lost by hunters. A few years back I got tired of cutting their throat with a dull mushroom knife, and decided to carry a sidearm.
