Hello,

Anyone have any experience with this model? Its there stainless steel, synthetic stock , Weather Warrior series. I currently have a model 110 in 30-06. Blued steel with a wooden stock.

After my hunting trip earlier this year with wet snow I noticed another gentleman at the lodge with a SS, synthetic rifle and it looked like it was very low maintenance. Any one have any input on these rifles? I was always told I should stay with a wooden stock but I can see the advantages of the synthetic stock in wet weather. I now this might be opening a can of worms but anyone what to share there experience with me? I am sure the deer will not know the difference in the two rifles.

Thanks in advance,

Synthetic stocks are very nice if you hunt mountainous territories. They are not terribly pretty, but they are certainly light, and don't show dings. We have no idea how they will stand up over time. I have linseed oil finished wood stocks that are still beautiful after a century of use. I am not sure that synthetic stocks will last that long, but I am also not sure if I should care.

The only stainless gun I own is a revolver that I carry as a sidearm while mushroom hunting. It often spends long, rainy days in the field, getting bits of dirt and acidic leaves sprinkled over it. The stainless part is very nice. It lets me clean the mushrooms before I clean the gun.

No, I don't shoot mushrooms. I sometimes find crippled deer that have crawled into the brush and were lost by hunters. A few years back I got tired of cutting their throat with a dull mushroom knife, and decided to carry a sidearm.
