Last year I was going to throw out my old hunting boots and get a new pair. Hunting buddy said I should save up some $ and get a really good pair made in the USA. He recommended Rocky Boots. Said they cost $100 to $125 but that they are worth it. So I save the $ and went to Sports Auth to get them. Funny thing .... they have Rocky Boots but they only cost about $50.00 ( about the price I always pay ) and also they are made in China.
Any comments/suggestions on Rocky Boots ?

Not just Rockys, but Danner, etc. I was told by a Danner rep that the EPA has caused many of their boots to be made off shore. The affected boots are the ones with glued-on soles. The sewn-on sole types are still made here. It seems that the EPA has decreed that the adhesives are hazardous and they have prohibited their use in the US. Apparently, there are no adhesives available that are strong enough that the EPA will approve.

I have the rocky bearclaws. They cost me about 160 bucks, but well worth the price. I have worn them in all weather situations and they are comfortable. I even mucked out a cow barn and they didn't show a mark. For those of you who have not mucked around in wet cow manure, it can eat the soles right off of lesser boots.
