Remington Hevi Shot.

Anyone tried Remington Hevi shot yet? Is it as good as they say? I'd like to hear that it is especially if the un-uniform varied size pellets pattern as well as they say. As a life long shotgunner trained in the old English school I have always been deeply sceptical about the 'amazing' advances in shotgunning technology of the last few years such as plastic wads, back boring, porting, lengthened forcing cones and super whizzo after market chokes etc. To my way of thinking the British developed the shotgun to its peak of technical perfection 80 or more years ago and most of these new ideas are just gimmicks. Sorry if that offends anyone, it's just my opinion.

I have - although the boxes I bought were not manufactured under the Remington name, that actually isn't supposed to go into effect until later this summer...

I went snow goose hunting with 5 other guys (plus a guide). Me & my buddy were shooting 2 3/4' #2 HeviShot, the 4 other clients were shooting 3 1/2' #BBB shot, the guide was shooting a 10 ga. w/ BBB.

Of the 34 geese killed, me, my buddy, & the guide killed 30. Only the guide had more range than my buddy & I (and that could be due more to his experiance than the gun or shot he was using).

Besides pure numbers, the 30 geese we killed came down DEAD. The only 'sailing birds' were the 4 the other guys shot.

My evaluation: for geese, I'll never shoot anything else. Heck, I'll probably use #6's for ducks. I am looking into buying the stuff in bulk and reloading my own to cut down on the price (close to $2/shell).

At $2, I couldn't bring myself to cut one open to look at it (or even shoot it at paper to see how it patterened). When I begin reloading, I'll do that for sure.

If you've got a pre-disposition toward a particular idea, it is doubtful that any facts or empirical evidence will convince you otherwise... But if you're happy in that opinion, far be it from me (or anyone else) to try to change you. So long as YOU'RE happy with it (but then, I have to wonder why you would ask).

As much as I dislike web-based discussion boards, the one on HeviShot's website is pretty good. And from what I can tell, they don't censor 'unfavorable' posts (meaning, it's an 'honest' discussion).

I haven't bought it yet, but I think there's a book specifically for HeviShot recipes. It's available on the HeviShot website

Looks to me like the 'recipes' section of this web site has recipes, not reloading data.

Look for the BOOK. The reloading info is not on the website (unless you go to the chat room).

They will sell it to you directly. The shipping is a bit high (but then, you are getting a few hundred pounds of something).
