My son and I went to the trap range this morning to get ready for a driven Pheasant hunt we are getting to go on Tuesday morning. Here is the catch- our 1100s have really bad O rings- I called the only gun shop open today, He was out of them, and he told me to go to a hardware store and go to the plumbing aisle and match them up. He also said they are the same? however instead of $5.95 they are .35 cents? Most of our gun shops in St. LOuis Area are closed on Mondays- any ohter thoughts or suggestions?

We get to go with Whitey Herzog the manager of the Baseball Cardinals in the 80's, JAckie Smith the HAll of fame Tight End from the Football Cardinals, Danny Cox Of the Baseball Cardinals, Raye Eye of Cabella's Sportsman Quest and Larry Woodward and Bob Richards of Outdoors in the Heartland- Boy Am I excited and now this- gun trouble- Probably better to catch it today than tuesday morning tin the field

They don't last quite as long but I just buy a handful and not worry about it.

As for the o-rings in a Remington 1100 or a 1187 they are a material called buna-n . the size is 021 for 12 ga. and 018 for 20 ga.. They are available at any industial suppy house or bearing supplier. The cost is about $8/100 thats right $8 a hundred. I shoot about 100/200 rounds a week during the skeet season and they are the same as the factories.I replace every 1000 rds just because they are so cheap. As for bunga -n , petroleum does not affect it.Hope it helps.

U know its been my experience that the o rings sold by the different parts stores will give u good service.. they are designed to work in oil et. tal. or u can go to someone that only sells seals.. but for the 1100 i think that the 60 durometer hardness will get get u off to a good start and if not use the 90 durometer.. seals are sold by diameter and cross section.. maybe ur local garage owner will have what u want in his kit.. just a thought.

WOW! Thanks a lot for that info! Did a search on Google for 'buna-n' and came up with a place that sells that size for $6.80 for 200, but shipping is $7. Still worth the price when I can split the cost among several friends who have 1100s and 1187s. Thanks.
