I just put my loading station back together after a couple of years of not doing anything with it. BiMart across the street is where I usually get my compnents unless they can't get something. I wanted to get some Sierra SBT 140 grain in .270 but they don't carry it nor can they ordr it. So in order to load I went ahead and picked up the Nosler Ballistic Tips. Don't get me wrong I like the Nosler bullets but I have loaded Sierra for years because I feel the bullets fly a bit flatter. After being able to hold the bullets side by side I notice the Sierra(I still have some 7mm left over) has a longer boattail than the Noslers do. This leads me to think the Sierras maintain their downrange velocity better.

I'll head into Eugene and get some Sierras tommorrow but my question is has anyone ever used the Sierra GameKing Hollow points? I cut soem of my .308 hoolow points and a Game king SBT7mm into half last weekend and the jackets are pretty thick and look as though they may hold up on deer size game but I would like to know if anyone has ever used them to hunt. The HPs I have are the Matchking not the Gameking so I know there will be a difference in construction. I have thought about picking up some newspaper bundles ,wetting them down and firing into them at 100, 200 and 300 yards, but newspaper and bone are two different things!
