Hello,

Been thinking of buying an M65 Field jacket, found a good price on them.. I like cammo gear and I seen these jackets and I am probably going to buy one. Are these jackets heavy? I rememmber trying on a cammo jacket at a local Army Navy store and it was heavy and felt durable. I really liked the feel of it. Is the outside fabric? I've seen alot of pictures but no websites really give to many details on the jackets in general.

Thanks !

I, for one, have found them to be pretty light even with a liner.

Be sure to get the button in liner too! I love mine even though I have a Jacket/Bib Combo that looks nicer and weighs less (not as durable). I like the Velcro in the sleeves and the wind flap over the zipper, not to mention all the pockets. It is very heavy as far as weight per warmth goes, but does have the advantage of the liner. It also seems to keep you drier. I gave $44 at Sportsman's Guide Catalog plus about $5 for a liner in a surplus store, best investment I ever made.

The best features are the collar with built in light hood, buttons for a heavy hood and most of all the cuffs. It is as important for a heavy jacket to be able to let heat OUT when you are working as to keep heat in. The cuffs open wide to let heat out when you are moving.

Well thx for all the advice. I myself am not a hunter, I found good prices on these and heard they were good. I recieved mine from UPS this morning, it's rather large for me but it's going to be good for the upcoming winter, especially since my job at the local market requires long duration outdoor work.

Yup this jacket is coated with Quarpel, according to the tag on it. It's an ultraforce Brand jacket.. cheaper price than the US Made jacket because it is foreign made. I do enjoy the look and feel of this jacket, will be looking forward to using it in the winter. Glad to hear it will be good for snow.

My wife and I continue to use the jackets left over from my military service and are quiet happy with them. I will probably stop by clothing sales and get same for our daughter.

I treat them several times a season with 'Camp Dry' that I pickup at Walmart which is similar to Scotch Guard. This makes them water resistant. By the time this soaks through we are usually out of the

Does that leave some noticable film 'feel' or a scent?

Speaking of this 'water resistant' spray.. does it leave a noticable film 'feel' or a scent on the jacket?
