'Well let us know if it tastes like chicken after you cook it'

Reminds me of this good ol'boy in Louisiana who was arrested for shooting seagull down at the beach. When he came up before the judge, the judge said he would have to throw the book at him for shooting a protected bird. The good ol' boy pleaded that he was broke, was just getting food for his family, meant no harm, family would starve if he went to jail, et.al. After hearing the pleading for several minutes and finding that this was a first offense, the judge finally took pity and dismissed the case with a warning that he should never come before him again for any offense or he would spend years in jail.

Just before the judge dismissed him, he motioned him up to the bench and asked 'I never heard of anyone eating seagull - what does it taste like.' The good ol' boy repsonded, 'kind of a cross between bald eagle and whooping crane.'

Now, before I get flamed, I do not suggest harming protected species.

Since when are Peafowl protected in this country?
