#Save your money, and time, and get a picnic table kit from a lumber store. #I've used one for a dining room table for years. But, then I'm a bachelor, so #I can get away with things married guys can't.

Depends on who you marry, actually.

The kit might not be a bad idea. Will see if the lumber yard has one next time I am up there. Once I have the kit built I guess I could expand from there and design a table that could be used as a permanent shooting bench.

Alex responded:

Thank you, Alex! There are some wives out here whose major concern is a happy family (with hubby at the top of the list) and count that as much more important than furniture.

I can actually see where a picnic table would be MUCH more practical for several years of family life....the baby/toddler years come quickly to mind! Too bad we didn't think of that before we spent big $$ on a new table, only to have the toddler decorate the top with fork tine marks on the first night we brought it home!

And really, when you think about it...a picnic table would probably add more to the overall look of the house, matching the camo couch, the deer antlers and the ducks everywhere, better than some Ethal Allen thing, doncha think?
