Lot's of good info Larry, but as they say 'never say never'! I hunted Medicine Bow Nat'l Forest with a bunch of guys (and one English wife-not mine) during rec.hunt antelope '95. We had multiple chances at antelope,

tags filled in 4 days (the other two just weren't used). Yes, in the majority of cases long crawls with elbow and knee pads plus thick gloves MAY be the norm. But then sometimes you luck out and sometimes someone videotapes it while you don't know it!) The hunt of a lifetime for this New Englander (until that elk hunt comes along....................). FWIW!)

Others in my group took them out to 550+ yds. 20 of 22

550 yard shots are considered by many (including me) to be irresponsible. The typical calibers used on antelope lose much of their velocity but most importantly...small gusts of wind over that distance can have a dramatic effect on the bullet path. The antelope is a small animal...do you want to risk a belly shot?

For many (including myself), the hunt is the process...scouting, watching, stalking for hours. 20 of 22 tags filled in four hours by a group is a far cry from the beautiful feeling of silence, solitude and appreciation of an animals cunning that I enjoy.

He speak truth; I've seen the tape. On a running shot no less. This after waking him up with the first shot, which missed high by a wee bit.... BBP!
