Wondering if any of you hunters know of a word for a moose with antlers that have 12 tines (if that is the right word for the points on the antlers?)?

I have a word in another language that means this - wonder if there's an equivalent term in English.

The best word would probably be 'NICE!' .

I've never heard, actually, of moose being referred to this way. Usually, at least, casually, they're judged by the width of their rack, not the number of points, as deer usually are, as in 'The biggest deer I ever shot was a ten point, and the biggest moose I ever shot was 43 inches'...

That moose, incidentally, was a 15 tine fella, and that rack hangs over my reloading bench .

An Elk or deer have antlers Cows Have horns, Moose have paddles and they are measured in inches on how wide they extend the 'tines' aren't necessarily how they are measured Brandon Walker

What in Europe is called 'Elk' in the US is call Moose. What in the US is call Elk is also known as Wapiti. Witch is the almost the same as the red stag.

Hey DJ and DA,

Thanks for your replies. The language is Swedish and the word is tolvtaggare - 'twelve-pointer' - I take it that's what we'd call it in english? (You probably know that the moose they hunt in Sweden are a little smaller than North Amreican moose).

Thanks DJ for pointing out the difference in referring to deer vs moose. On second glance, I think your '15 tine fella' has just the right ring to it - it's the expression I was looking for.
