What do you call driving distance? One of the states south of Virginia somewhere has a deer season that opens in late summer. Try http://www.buckmasters.com/hunting_seasons/ for a list by state.

Spring / Summer is the gestation period for most animals. I don't think *any* true game animal is allowed to be hunted then.

You might want to start varmint hunting. Northern VA, southern PA has a fair number of wood-chucks, and late spring / summer will give you some interesting shooting.

The Rules, Rules, Rules that are spoken about, are there for a reason!!!!!!!!! The Know it alls probably are right!!! Have you taken a hunter education course? Do you have a hunting license? I have got to ask- Do you really want to go hunting (fair chase, quick clean kill good shot) or do you just want to kill something? I don't know If I am getting too wary of some of the questions on the board, but it seems like it might be a person that wants to go against everything we believe in. Fair Chase, Quick clean
