Well boys and girls check out the link to this story.
http://www.worldnetdaily.com/bluesky_dougherty/ 20000330_xnjdo_sixth_g...

I read it, and couldn't believe it. All along NRA, and other pro gun/hunting have been painted as alarmist, paranoid, conspiracy nuts,etc.......... well after reading this story you might need to do some thinking.

Sounds typical of a community near where the first grader shot the other a couple of weeks ago. Very reactionist, etc.

It sounds kind of Socratic, but kids simply need more education about guns. It isn't about availability, it's about knowing what guns can do. There are all sorts of philosophical debates taking either position

While I agree that a lack of gun safety education for kids (which is essentially what you're talking about here) is a problem, it really was the *least* of the problems in this particular instance. The only hope this boy would have had would have been an early removal from his mother/environment and placement with competant, caring parents.

AGREE!!! As hard and agrivating as it is, best solution is still to take the high road, leadership role, etc. to educate and help others to understand the sportman's way of life. If is a tough job when you have to deal with the ignorant, media bias, anti-hunting, anti-gun groups, but our children are worth the effort to teach them that not everything comes in a neat airtight package at the convienance store, and that conservation and wildlife need more than just lip service.
