All hunting dogs start as a cute and cuddly puppies, that is fine but how are you going to find the ultimate hunting dog from a bunch of adorable pups ? The Outdoor wrote an informative post on how to choose a hunting dog when it is still a puppy.

One method or test you can use to determine the true disposition of a pup is to pick him or her up and cradle them in your arms, on their back. If the puppy just lays in your arms and makes no attempt to get up-righted he may be too docile to make a good field dog.

Though non of the methods are 100% sure you still have your intuition to rely on, trust that first love and immediate connection to that one puppy that catches your heart.
