Has any one any experience with a Franchi automatic 20 ga? I have one and with heavy loads it is beating me to death. It is the ideal light weight gun for a 70 + year old but is a terror to shoot high base loads. Is this typical? Are there different settings for the recoil slide rings? Any information will be appreciated.

There is no adjustment on the gun that will lessen the recoil you experience. There are several ways to achieve less felt recoil, listed here more or less in order of

1) If your bronze friction piece is worm, replace it.

2) Keep the magazine tube dry - - - do not oil it!

Same basic action as an A-5 . . . no, with one oz. loads for hunting purposes you should have no problem.

There is an adjustment. In the instruction manual it will tell how to flip the ring over on the slide for either heavy or light loads.

Get the owners manual from American Arms 816 474-3161, read it and do the following: 1- Order recoil spring, friction ring and friction spring from phone # above for 30$ or so 2- Once you get the parts, take the gun apart, remove the bronze friction ring after having taken the friction spring off it make sure you don't scratch/gouge the inside of the brass ring on the tube treads 3-Remove the recoil spring and throw it away, install new recoil spring, friction ring and friction spring over it, again being careful with the inside of the bronze ring for obvious reason Do not oil, adjust governor ring to specific load BEST, take the gun to a gunsmith, he'll make sure the alloy receiver is not cracked or otherwise damaged from the previous pounding

Franchi barrels are to thin for backboring and the bore is hard chrome Adding weigh to the lightest semi on the market is ridiculous Instead get a typical MoReWi mud gun
