Pot holes for duck and goose nesting sights are limited here in S.W. Michigan, small lakes are all but dried up and gone, how's the area where you live? Ducks and geese aren't as visible as usual this spring or last. Is canada experiencing the same drought? One local lake association is installing a deep well pump to help offset the lack of rain/snow. Pumps a million gallons/day. Newspaper photo of the lake showed water 300 ft from dock, down 5+ feet.

Lake Michigan is down 15 inches from last years low. they are having to dredge the harbors for pleasure boats to dock and freighters to enter.

Part of that is the normal cycle of the Great Lakes, part of it is due to drought and man made influence. My advice is to support programs that protect the lakes from development/draining.

Over here around Saginaw Bay we've had a large number of geese at some man made lakes in the area. My girlfriend is always complaining about the mess they make on the Saginaw Valley State University campus. They have some man made ponds on campus that have become a summer home/stopover point from a couple hundred so far.

I'm not sure how far south you are but I do know that the southern half of the state is becoming extremely developed. In most of my trips down there it's hard to find much land that's still undeveloped and of suitable size to support much wildlife.
