Do we have gun registration?

My brother, who recently moved to Georgia, was contacted by a telemarketer representing the 'Gun Owners Task Force'. He started his 'pitch' by saying Tom Delay is reaching out to 'gun owners like you' for support...etc. etc. My brother stopped this man and asked him how he knew he was a gun owner. The man put him on hold and said he would check. He came back on the line and said 'We got your name from the National Gun Registry List'!!!!!! My brother has no established ties to any organizations in Georgia or anywhere else. He has never belonged to any groups (NRA, GOA etc.) gun-related or not. No subscriptions to magazines relating to firearms... however, he recently paid a transfer fee and underwent a background check on a firearm that I gave him.

How did they get his name?

Delay was pitching for NRA. I'm only guessing but I would suggest the NRA obtained your brother's name for a magazine subscription. Sports Ill., Outdoor life, Bowhunter, BuckMasters, DeerHunter, Ordered from Cabelas, ProBass Warehouse... then progamaticly drove the address into a program that derives the phone number based upon mailing address.

Or maybe NRA just got lucky ... hope your brother signed up.

A gun owner who is not a member of a progun organization such as the NRA he needs to wake up!!

We don't have private lives any longer; if he bought ammunition with a credit card, he's in somebody's database. If we ever had a 'right to privacy' it's gone for good, useful only as an excuse to legalize abortion.
