Does anyone have a recommendation for a public land hunt for Coues deer? Never seen one but will be sending my money to AZ for the draw. I was considering area 29 ...any suggestions?

I live in AZ. I have not been to area 29, but I believe that 28, 29, 30, and 31 should be fine. The only coues deer I have seen were in the reservation area just west of 28 and 31. I pulled off to the side of the road on the way to Safford, to stretch my legs and water the cactus, and found 2 4 by 4 bucks down the hill off the side of the road. Killed by cars I believe, because I noticed that one of the bucks horns had been broken. They were pretty small deer with nice horns. Just miniature whitetail. Everything is in proportion, i.e.. horns and body size. Good luck on getting drawn. Tom

Lee,
I would recommend areas 34B, 35A, or 34A, in that order. December is the better hunt, especially since we are in a real bad drought right now.
Let me know if you are successful in the draw, and what unit, and maybe I can help ou out. I live here and scout all the time.
