Me and two buddies hunted in New Hope, TX which is about 8-10 miles NW of McKinney. We all limited out by 9am, had 45 birds on the grill by 11am and were full as ticks by Noon. The rain was coming down all day long but it didn't slow the birds down much at all. Where did you hunt and how did you

Well that sounds like a nice morning! What were you hunting over - sunflowers, milo, wheat stubble?

I was out west of Graham, TX hunting a sunflower field. Hunting in the first field we was pretty slow. Then some of our buddies from another field less then a mile a way showed up reporting full bags. So we moved over to that field and had our limits by noon.

Just so you know, I am jealous. I drove almost 6 hours (round trip) to get my limit. Here you are getting yours 30 minutes from my house!

At Rush Run Wildlife Area in southwestern Ohio, we did a controlled dove hunt. There were 120 hunters per hunt spread across five fields. We had a morning hunt from sunrise to noon and an afternoon hunt from 3pm to sunset. Many people limited out unless they couldn't shoot. We were limited to seventy five shells. We had some very heavy downpours intermixed with light drizzle. The birds flew during the light drizzle and some periods of no rain.

The next day we went back to Rush Run and limited out in about four hours. Not as many doves flying, but still a fair number coming through.

We were hunting a plowed corn field. There were 3 grain silos (corn) about a mile from us which was between us and the water so that certainly helped. I hunted Graham/Throckmorton last year and had great luck most of the time. I was very happy and lucky to avoid that drive without sacrificing a high quality hunt. My buddy's Dad grew up with this local farmer who's got about 4000 acres between Fairview and New Hope.. We were out scouting at dawn on Sunday morning and drove around quite a bit until we found the birds. That was the key to our success on this hunt. I couldn't go out Tuesday but my two friends did and they got 5 between 'em. I think the birds we got in to were pushed out by that front. We'll do some scouting tonight to see what we can come up with. Steve

Southwestern AZ was its usual unbelievable self on day one. My buddy and I were limited out w/in 30 minutes. I hit my first 4 shots then carefully picked my shots from then on to get my first perfect limit.

The next day was a lot tougher by comparison. I've never seen such a drop off from day 1 to day 2. We were still done by 8am though.

Went out Wednesday in a group of 4. We got 30 birds between the 4 of us. We were hunting a planted sunflower field. The birds were scattered and most were 50 - 100 yds away when they flew by.

I got 5 on my first trip every dove hunting. I hit 2 others, but couldn't find them in the dense sunflower patches.

Ohio dove season is relatively new...hunted Wednesday in NE Ohio at Mosquite Lake, in sunflowers planted by state, flowers are unripe and late because of cool wet summer, saw one group of 7 birds zooming thru, a buddy shot one, other hunters report same, too nice out it seemed, other friends hunted Monday in central Ohio and had much more action even in rain, say plowed fields loaded with birds (Richland County)
