Twenty or so years ago, it was said that if the US were to be given an enema, Detroit would be the 'insertion point'. Looks like the 'Peoples' Demokratik Republik of Chikago' is trying to 'elbow' Detroit out of that role.
He can't. Having written that, let me remind you that, laws to the contrary notwithstanding, government can do to you anything you cannot physically prevent it from doing.
In Illinois, the only *rifles* allowed for deer hunting are muzzle-loaders. The 'regular firearms' deer season allows hunters to use shotguns firing slugs (12-ga. and 16-ga. exceed '.50-cal bore'; don't know about 20-ga and smaller). Sort of begs the question, 'Is a shotgun with a rifled barrel considered a 'rifle' for the purposes of this [alleged] ban?'

John,
You mentioned Detroit. Detroit is attempting to shed its image. My understanding is that the citizens of Detroit can now get a 'shall issue' permit to carry a concealed weapon. The permit cannot be denied a citizen who does not have a felon conviction. I know that's hard to believe (I'm pleasently surprised), but that's my understanding. And concealed carry permit holders are not causing problems.

It is true that Detroit is now under a 'shall issue' type of law, but it wasn't by their own choice. The state of MI passed the new CCW requirements, and the city of Detroit (and Wayne County, for that matter) is forced to follow along.
Now, I have no doubt that Detroit would like to change its image, but I haven't seen anything all that significant from the city.
