Any one here try to hunt with the CB Longs. I'd like to hear about the experiences folks are having using CB Longs on different sized live game. They group decently with my CZ Special, but I am worried that they don't carry enough energy to make consistent kills on rabbit sized game. I plink around the back yard and have had the chance to try them out on bird-sized game. On house sparrows they work consistently. However on blue jay-sized birds, I only get about a 75 percent kill ratio. Birds that get nailed in the head always drop, but sometimes even with solid body shots, they manage to fly off. I know I get solid hits because I hear the loud 'THWAAP!' as the bullet hits the bird and see a little puff of feathers. I've heard about the sgb tool that is supposed to increase the effectiveness of 22 rounds. Anyone use the SGB on CB longs? Will the sgb even work on a CB Long, as they are a bit shorter than long rifle rounds, so less of the bullet sticks through to be filed down. What about other gadgets that make hollow-points from solids?

I would suggest you be careful regarding shooting song birds, many of them are protected and a 'trigger happy' hunter in the press does not help our stance with the non-hunters.

They make better deer alarms than they do singing birds.

So do crows. Which, by the way, sing about as beautifully as BJs. Hunting in Oklahoma, where both are quite plentifull, I could follow the movements of deer by listening to them. Bill Van Houten (USA Ret) 'No matter how hard you try, you can't throw a potato chip very far.'

Mr. Crow makes a great turkey locator. They follow the turkeys and pester them.
