Is there a mosquito repellant that won't scare off game? Or, is there some trick to keeping the mosquitoes at bay without wearing a bug suit and without being smelled by game?

I don't know but I have noticed that last can of Off I bought does not smell nearly as much. I suspect that most of DEET's smell comes from impurities.

Yeah, hunt further north where the mosquitos are just a memory by the time deer season rolls around .

Best repellent I've found is called: Hunter's Insect Repellent 'Earth Scent' by Repel comes in a small plastic spray bottle and it smells like 'swamp water', kind of weird smell but is the best stuff around. I buy it at Walmart. Last time I went I bought all 6 bottles they had

I've been rethinking my comments on smell of DEET due to impurities. Now I think it is the intrinsic smell and products like above, if they have DEET, have other odors to mask. Mosquitoes were bad yesterday so I used DEET. It did not bother doe that came within 20 yds - unfortunately a tree threw itself into the path of my arrow. Read something the other day that there is a new repellant coming out of Europe that does not smell bad like DEET.

Well, DJ, I hunt in Northern Minnesota and last weekend there were no shortage of mosquitos!
I tried something I found at Galyan's called Permithin. You apply it to your clothes, not your skin. It sure kept the 'squiters off of my clothes, but did nothing for my exposed skin and I still got plenty of nibbles on my face, hands and the one sleeve that I didn't treat as a test.
It was about as scentless as I could hope for. I had 3 does within 20 yds of my stand, 2 of them comming in from almost directly down wind.
It cost about $6 for an aerosol can that could probably treat 3 sets of clothing. It's supposed to last for several weeks, even after washing. I washed my clothes yesterday and will see if it still repels the bugs next weekend.
