Tried it last night with no luck. Did manage to find uk.rec.fishing.game, but not shooting. Wasn't among the new groups added recently.
I'm not sure how these news groups work, but I suspect there's some action remaining to be taken by a carrier of some sort.

Gee, I didn't think there was any gun owners left in Britain
Glad to hear they haven't outlawed talking about guns over there yet.
Good luck to you though and you can always defect and live over here until they get ours as well
