If you’re an Evangelist in Pennsylvania and most importantly if you are a capable bowman you might find this event interesting.

Rick and Dan are coming any minute now and we are going hunting for the day. I’ve had so many things to deal with recently that I haven’t had the patience and the concentration to really get close to a deer. I guess they knew that my focus was off. Anyway I feel that today is going to be great, I have the certain calmness inside so I’m sure I’ll be able to take some good pictures maybe similar to the ones here Aug 18 Fighting The PR Battle
courtesy of Anita Gould I’ve somehow missed this story until now but maybe it is the right timing after all. I’m thinking about the situation of the couple that suffered damages to their property from the deers, the process of checking alternatives until the hunting option was chosen and then the all drama of other neighbours involving celebrities and PETA to call the hunting off. The situation of the overpopulation of the deer won’t go away because people view hunting as cruel and inhuman the only thing that would happen is that in some time they would ask for the hunting themselves as a last resort. I know that the hunters community are losing the PR battle but it doesn’t have to be this way. There are many intelligent people among us that can get through to people by explaining that unsupervised increase of the deer population near the suburbs and the cities would lead to an unbearable conditions. I know from personal experience that even the most pro animal advocates would call the exterminator when they’ll have a real problem at home with pests as they can’t really talk to them and convince them that living in the wild is a better option. Aug 10 Speaking Of Breaking StereotypesFrom NorCal Cazadora
The funny thing is the shocked reaction of the audience and her courage to declare that she is an hunter.
Another celebrity incident involving hunting is the Angelina Julie Brad Pitt “problem” with the hog hunting:
From The Hog Blog Aug 07 Telling People You Hunt Can Be FunnyI usually get surprised looks from people when I tell then that I hunt, basically because I’m a woman and people don’t really associate women with hunting and if they do then it is a privilege saved for wild women such as Grace on the Saving Grace series. Normal women are not associated with hunting and there are times when I can clearly feel the “what’s wrong with her” thought passing through people’s mind. It seems that the expectations people have with regard to hunting applies to men too. Arthur posted about stereotyping saying that he works in a computer company and wears suits for work and people are really shocked when they hear that he hunts. If you have funny stories about people’s reaction when they find out that you hunt I’d love to hear them. |
