I recieved info that they were made by Research Enterprises Limited, a Canadian goverment owned company, in Toronto. It was war production, and about 50,000 pairs of 6x30's were made. The U.S. Bureau of standards provided plans of glass factories established during WWI and B&L assisted. How they ended up on a farm in Pennsylvania, I don't know but they have been here for 40 years at least. Maybe they were sold in the states as war surplus. They held up very well and that is saying something as they were hanging in the kitchen to look over the fields and were used a lot.
