Would someone be kind enough to tell me about how high I should be in a tree stand when hunting moose and also for black bear. Is 15 feet sufficient? or should I go higher?

Thanx in advance,

My advice it two-fold. First, in many locals the government has specific maximum allowable heights. Check game laws. Where I hunt, 15 feet would be pleanty for a stand.

Secondly, I've taken two moose in my life, and that will probably be it. I can only speak for myself, but I believe that it's easier to go to the animal than to wait for it to come to you.

Not to mention that the average Alaskan bull moose could probably stretch up and still look you in the eye! Aren't they something outrageous like 12' from the top of their head? I want to shoot a couple of those rascals. One with my .450 Marlin and another with my bow.
