Hi, I 've always loved outdoor, nature, fishing and hunting. as I recall these were among many reasons that I came to America. Yes I'm an immigrant. Now a US citizen after 14 years finally established a life so I can start enjoying it. last years bought a shotgun and a rifle.this year bought a Martin bow and have been practicing. have to say I've been very good at it, after two mounts they classified me as a class A shooter. Well I got all the gadget I need . but when it comes to hunting, I have no clue where to go.in my inquiries I've found out most people have their own land or a friend who let them hunt in their land. The idea of buying a piece of land upstate has also cross my mind but even that going to take some research and time, the hunting season is closing in and I thought maybe somebody out there doesn't mint taking a friend out for a hunt.I 'am not interested in hunting bear, because I wont eat it, but deer,, birds, water fall ,etc .Just tell me when and where and I'll be there, and as I said I got everything I need except a hunting body .

Thank you Jeff

This is just to add some information that was missing on my first note,, and thanks for those who responded.

Yes I have finished the safety course for gun and this coming weekend would be my final class for bow hunting and I'll be certified for that too.

I'm on Long Island , New York. Last year after getting my hunting license I contacted DEC office , as a first time hunter they gave me advance reservation for pheasant hunting in Rocky point N.Y. I tell you there was nothing advance about it, I could say there was a hunter for every few acre. the only bird I saw all day was a crew , I think somebody even took a shot at it. and for my cultural back ground, I'm Persian .

Thank you again, Jeff

Well, dunno how to break this to you, Jeff, but even though this is a pretty good group, and very few prejudices exist, you may be out of luck. In this day and age, the way the world is right now, We can overlook alot of things, but THAT... I dunno.

I mean, *living on Long Island*... geeze, gonna be hard getting used to THAT .

But seriously, of course I'm kidding. We don't care where you *have* to live . I think you need to get yourself further out of 'civilization' if you're looking for the kind of hunting I think you are. Some upstate areas would be probably a good idea. When you're at your last course this weekend, make sure you ask the instructors how you find out where the public land is, any good hunting places around. And, of course, ask your fellow students. Many of them might be well worth 'networking' with.
