Saturday night was the 3rd annual wild game dinner sponsored by the local Catholic Church. The pastor is an outdoorsman who, along with some parishioners, came up with the idea of sponsoring a wild game dinner fundraiser. My wife doesn’t like the taste of wild game, so my oldest daughter and I went – and talk about some great food!
In addition to the dinner, there was a rifle raffle, a raffle for smaller items, and a silent auction; we unfortunately had other commitments and could not stay for the raffles and silent auction.
Although I tried to sample everything, there were simply too many dishes to try them all. I was not able to try most of the Pheasant and duck recipes which included Pheasant drumsticks, alfredo, and noodle soup, and barbeque duck to name a few.
I did make my way through most of the menu and listed below are the dishes that I actually did eat:
Goose: jerkey, salami, smoked.
Pheasant: bacon-wrapped.
elk: lasagne, cube steak and rice.
Deer: teriyaki kabobs, canned venison sandwiches, pot roast, spaghetti.
antelope: enchaladas.
bison: meatloaf, hamburger.
meat unknown: road kill chili

I probably would have skipped the road kill chili - the name is enough to make me lose my appetite :-)
