7.62 x 39 ammo??

Does anyone know of a source for SKS Ammo that is a little hotter than factory loads. I enjoy deer hunting with the gun but have not been impressed by the terminal ballistics on the deer.......(marginal at best).

size whitetail when things go as planned. I suppose a fellow handloading for a bolt action could squeeze another few fps out of the small case but, the SKS being a gas-operated selfloader, you would do well to keep your loads as the maker intended. You could always step up to a clean, used .30/30 for about $200.00. Good hunting! Michael

The 7.63X39 is going to have almost identical ballistics to the 30-30. Federal used to make a descent soft point hunting round.
