Most of the guys around here shoot 12ga for Dove, but for a little challenge I suggest dropping down to smaller shotgun.
I have an old .410 double barrel. One barrel shoots dead on and the other shoots low and to the left. Is there a gunsmith that can put both barrels dead on?
I used it two years ago for Dove, but had mixed results for obvious reason. I hit pretty well with one barrel, but the other left me with a lack of confidence until I took it out and patterned it.
It is an old shotgun made in the 1920s. It looks like a fairly cheap production gun, so it is not woth a lot. I refinished the wood and reblued the metal a few year ago, so from any collectors standpoint it is worth even less.
I like the gun tho, and I would not mind paying a fair price to somebody who could repattern it.

Not being a side by side expert (nor much of an expert on anything for that matter) I *believe* the barrels are regulated to hit point of aim at a certain yardage (in the case of a 410, it maybe quite short, like 25 yards) when the gun is manufactured. To adjust one barrel, I'm fairly confident that the gunsmith would have to somehow detatch the two tubes from each other, re-regulate, then silver solder them back together. After this is all done, the barrels would have to be re-blued.
Not a cheap fix at all I'm afraid.

I was not particularly looking for cheap. I know the gun is not worth much, but I like it.

I went from a 12 to a 20 not for the challenge, but for the comfort.....
One would have to be an expert or a nut to switch to a .410...

I have to admit the pickings were slim, and they were fast and furious this year, but I have had opening days when I shot my limit within a few minutes of sunrise.
