No practical difference.

Can't be 100 fps difference between 'em. If you're so far out that 100 fps of velocity difference makes the difference between a bullet expanding or not, you probably ought to move up to the .22-250 in an Encore.

On paper, the .223 has an advantage in speed, the .222 has less muzzle blast. In the field, you won't notice if you're loading both to about the same pressure.

I doubt you would notice any difference. At handgun ranges, the trajectory would be almost identical. The .223 is slightly faster, but you would have to be out to 200+ yards to make any use of it.

Have used both on coyotes and woodchuck, so no big difference, except in ammo cost. 223 is cheaper now with all the surplus ammo around. good hunting dave

: good hunting : dave

Surplus .223 ammo 'may' be cheaper, but surplus ammo is FMJ, and is not the best thing for hunting something you want to stop in its tracks.
